Story of the Commission Objectives Themes Secretariat Commission Meetings Press Room FAQ Time Line

Introduction

The Secretariat to the Commission for Africa was established in London in April 2004 in order to support the Commission's work. The Secretariat was funded by the British Government to act in an independent capacity in support of the Commission.

The principal functions of the Secretariat included the management of external consultation and the presentation of the Commission's work, administrative and research support to the Commissioners.

The principal officers coordinating the support to the Commission from the London office were Nick Stern, Director of Policy and Research, and Myles Wickstead, Head of Secretariat. Paul Vallely was co-writer, with particular focus on Part One of the Report.
