Canadian Finance Minister and Commissioner, Ralph Goodale, addressed a conference of around 250 Canadian and African businesses on 25 April in Toronto. The Minister emphasised the importance of the private sector to growth and poverty reduction, key messages in the Commission's Report. A new Canadian initiative - the Canada Investment Fund for Africa (CIFA) - to encourage private sector investment was launched at the conference.
