Fola Adeola addresses the Beijing Seminar on the Commission for Africa |
In addition to the series of events led by Bob Geldof around the G8 Commissioners were involved in a number of consultations around the world.
In China a major seminar organised by Commissioner Ji Peiding and attended
by Fola Adeola to share experiences of poverty reduction and discuss how to
support Africa's development brought in broad participation from a range
of Chinese officials, private sector representatives and African envoys.

The seminar, which took place on 23 September 2004, covered learning from China’s development, China-Africa cooperation, China as a donor, and western donor behaviour.
At the invitation of the Japanese Government, the Commission held a side-event the TICAD Asia-Africa Trade and Investment Conference in Tokyo on 2 November 2004. Nancy Kassebaum Baker and William Kalema addressed the conference which focused on promoting Asian investment in Africa and lesson-learning between the two continents.
Anna Tibaijuka and Fola Adeola took the Commission for Africa debate to the World Urban Forum in Barcelona on 14 September 2004. The discussion had a particular focus the challenges presented by urbanisation. |
