Online Forums
| Web based discussion forums were a valuable addition to the Commission’s consultation work, bringing in the views of hundreds of people around the world including many from Africa. Five separate online consultations were carried out aimed at different groups.

ODI Consultation with African Think-Tanks and Non-State Institutions
The Overseas Development Institute organised an e-consultation targeting African research organisations which ran during July and August 2004. 65 African organisations participated in this exercise which was structured in two phases – an ‘Initial Consultation’ during which general comments and submissions were invited followed by a moderated e-discussion. Reports on both phases are available below.

AMREF ‘Speak for Africa’ Online Forum
AMREF ran their “Speak for Africa” e-consultation exercise ahead
of the east Africa
regional civil society consultation events
that they organised in Nairobi in early December.

Canadian Department of Finance Online Consultation
Building on consultation meetings in Calgary, Ottawa and Montreal Ralph Goodale organised an online consultation exercise on African development issues which was open to a wide Canadian audience. This took place between mid October and the end of December 2004.
